Hello friends! My fave season is upon us; if you can’t find me, it’s because I’m in my favourite place (Michaels’) shopping for all things HALLOWEEN (and then Christmas).
This is a bittersweet time for me, since it’s William’s FIRST YEAR OF SCHOOL — preschool, specifically — and it’s also the first year that I’m not going back to school. I’m weird, I like school, and I seriously just want to be doing a Master’s program right now, but, alas, I didn’t apply to any. Good one, Rhi. So, here I am, with too much time on my hands* (*ignoring household things), making cool things on the computer to share with you.
I am excited for William to go to school, though, since he’s already quite academically inclined (I birthed two small overachievers, I know, you’re all *shocked*); it’ll also be nice to have some one-on-one time with the littlest bean.
Now’s the time of year when parents are like, “HOW ISN’T IT SEPTEMBER FOURTH ALREADY?” because they want their kids to get of the house, but also, “HOW IS SCHOOL NEXT WEEK?” because there’s SOOOO much to do. So, here’s one less thing for you to do: a First Day of printable for your small (and small-ish) humans!
I’ve made chalkboard (again, you’re shocked) printables for Kindergarten through grade 12, as well as daycare and preschool options. This is an example of the preschool one:

Directions:
- Open PDF | all of the PDFs are attached below, just pick the one(s) you need
- Print | these are made to be printed on regular letter paper, although it’s a bonus if you have card stock!
- Cut | cut where the white paper meets the black chalkboard print; I’ve framed it so that the printables make an 8 inch by 10 inch “chalkboard”
- Frame | the printable(s) fit in an 8×10 frame, but you can get creative!
- Capture | take candid photos of your little one’s first day of school!
Don’t forget to reward yourself with your favourite breakfast or morning beverage (tea? coffee? what’s your jam?), because parenting is hard and you deserve it.
